how amazing would it be, if every texan who regularly doesn't vote because they belive their "vote doesn't count" came out and voted democrat this year? how amazing would it be to see this state decide to take a stand against big oil, big business and stand up for middle class families? a blue texas? surely it's possible.

So...is anyone here an RA? I'm thinking of signing up to be one next semester but I have a few questions first.

What's it like?
What did your duties entail?
What's your favorite part of the job?
What's the part you could've done without?
Would you be a RA again or not?

West Nile Virus [Sep. 3rd, 2006|05:30 pm]
Lamar University
More West Nile Virus tests positive
Story here:
For the second time in as many weeks, Orange county residents have tested positive for West Nile virus, according to an Orange County Mosquito Control news release issued Friday.

The girl at Baptist hospital right now has been on oxygen for a week. You're supposed to have blood oxygen saturation of like 98%+, they put an oxygen mask on you at 92%, after a week she's at a blood oxygen saturation of 70%. Her blood pH has gone from the expected 7.35-7.45, which is normal, to 7.09, which is relatively acidic. She's probably going to die.

"When outside between dusk and dawn - when the virus-carrying culex species of mosquito is most active - people should wear insect repellant that contains DEET or picaridin and wear long pants and long-sleeve shirts in mosquito-infested areas.

Research shows that 77 percent of people who contracted the serious form of West Nile Virus did not use an insect repellant, according to the news release.

Area residents also should be emptying any container that holds water, changing pet bowls, bird baths and wading pools regularly; and checking saucers under potted plants for overflow, the news release said. "

So use some insect repellant.

dorm meal plan... [May. 6th, 2006|08:10 pm]
Lamar University
hey i was wondering....which meal plan is the best if you are going to live in the dorms?

plan A : 100 block meal plan + $300 dining dollars at the Nest and Mirabeaus
plan B : 150 block meal plan + $150 dining dollars at the Nest and Mirabeaus
plan C : 250 block meal plan + $100 dining dollars at the Nest and Mirabeaus

they all cost the same, i just want some input since i have no idea if the food at the Nest and Mirabeaus (whatever that is) is better, worse, or the same as wherever else there is to eat on campus.

so which is the better buy? i've lived in a dorm before at my old school...and i did find myself getting sick of dorm food all the time..i want variety!

thanks to all those who respond...
